This matted and signed original altered art was so much fun for me to create!  I took my old medical school anatomy lab textbook and altered the pages using paint and inks to show how much more dynamic and fabulous our bodies are then we are taught in medical school.

There really are two ways to use every organ in your body, including how you take your next heartbeat.

One way to have your heart take it's next contraction is to do it in a functional and rigid way... automatically... for your survival.

The second way, and by far the more interesting way, to use your heart is to use it to radiate love, express joy, expand your connection to others, and feel interconnected with the divine in all things.

Using the heart as a way to distribute the energy of your inner soul to the furthest reaches of your body -- this is what the circulatory system represents to me.

Flexibility is the heart's strength.

A rigid heart is stiff and weak, susceptible to dis-ease.

A flexible, dynamic, strong, loving heart uses it's strength to circulate love and connectivity throughout your entire being.

Well, that's the way I want to think about it and so I created this work of art to remind me.

This is an original altered 8 x 10 inch textbook page comes matted in a 11 x 14 inch mat which is titled and signed by me, Laura Koniver, MD.  It is a one-of-a-kind, never to be repeated work of art, so if you are ready to use your heart for something bigger, this one's for you!
